I'm not sure where you got your information, but it's not accurate. XP has no problems with 4 gigs of RAM. It's only when you
exceed 4 gigs (for which you need a 64-bit machine and a 64-bit OS) that there would be an issue. I've run numerous machines, both servers and workstations, for
years with 4 gigs of memory and never seen an issue.
