That was a retarded example. Let me tell you what would have been better.
In 7th grade (~12yro), I had this wheelchair-bound instructor for "home room". Some kind of auto accident. Anyway, she had these little report chits she kept on record. "Making unecessary noise", speaking without being called on (which included whispering), not having an assignment, not putting your name and number (everyone had a number) on your paper. All of these things violated her code, and you got a mark on your report chit. Some were only 1/4 of a mark, some were 1/2 mark, bad ones 2 marks. Get 9 or 10 marks and you got the paddle (one kid ended up getting the paddle). And she had some kind of reward system if you went all "9 weeks" or semester without a mark.
Now, by the middle of the school year, most were feeling the pressure. Outside that classroom, no one used her legal name -- when you heard a slew of curses which had some kind of feminine indicator, you knew by context it was this instructor to whom they were referring.
Now, at the end of the year, she should have had a load of Army, Navy, Marine, Airforce, Coast Guard guys and girls roll in there. And to her protest, they should have shredded the cards in front of her with a "confettii" shredder. Pull something like that on 10-year olds where they are tormented and cowered all year long, and the point would have been more trenchant.
For a high-school level, I'm not sure. I've got a couple ideas but not anything I am particularly keen on expressing.
/still think we need to get out of Irak
