Err... you paid "a couple of hundred bucks" for a 9800?!? How much
did you pay for this card exactly, and from where? ...and BTW, you should not be even remotely surprised at having to tweak the game to get good performance, the 9800 is two notches up form the bare minimum that the game needs to run.
