Quite the contrary. Makes me want more to protect myself. Take mine away, and the whacked out ones will be the only people with a gun! The UK is the best example of that with their crack underground.
Your right! The only way to solve gun crime is by arming more people!

I'm sure if we looked at gun crime statistics for countries with and without guns the countries with the most guns would have the least gun crime! It makes total sense.
No. I think it has to do with the US itself. Our driving society (much harder driving that Europe) doesn't take the time out for friends and family. We are always in such a rush. I am not even sure parents see their children anymore - they just turn on the electronic babysitter. THis is what I think the real problem is. And yes, I want to be armed in a society that drives us into workaholics or crazy - you pick. The people who don't pick end up homeless. Welcome to the US of A. 40 hours a week is a joke. Last I heard, the average was getting closer to 55 to 60. You can go home at 40 hours a week, but you won't have a job long, or you will never be promoted. And vacation is dwindling too. Europe and even Canada take long vacations every year. They have shutdowns, where that is unheard of in the US. In the US, you are even looked down upon for even mentioning you want to take a week, even if it is your right!

And you wonder why we have problems. We've given up the ghost in the name of productivity. SOmething tells me this great nation can't keep this up forever since it is showing signs of crumbling.

So whilst America is going through the troubled time you describe, where kids grow up angry and confused after the breakdown of the family and where office workers could snap at any moment from the strains of overwork and lack of friends and holidays, its a good idea to give these same people guns so that they don't shoot each other?
