Well I have SH4 1.2 modded with RFB1.3 etc, and still the game has none of the feel of SH3. Sure the ship models, graphics and environment in SH4 are way superior to SH3, but the modded SH3 game play, i.e. NYGM or GWX leaves SH4 for dead.

For sure there will be mods yet to come for SH4 and god speed, but I guess after trying quite a few times, I just am not interested or overly engaged in the Pacific theatre.



I've always said SH4 should have been released as an upgrade to SH3, not a new and seperate game. As an add on it could have upgraded the SH3 graphics and brought the Pacific to those that wanted it. So many people have dug into SH4 and found bits of SH3 embedded in it, I think there was even a band in a port playing the German national anthem for departing US subs! And I would have paid for such an add on quite happily.



Has any one heard or actually asked anyone from the SH4 Dev team if they are interested to update SH3 to SH4. I thought there had been some communication in this regard from the German Subsim crew and the the DEv team were considering handing over some files or lending some assistance.


I cannot offer much in the way of modding skills but will happily offer my time and testing abilities, opinions or suggestions and anything else to any one who can pull this off.

You see I am doubly cursed, I can’t play SH4 cos it just does'nt grab me, and I cant play SH3 cos my expectations re graphics and ship models etc have been raised by SH4. And SH3 does have those annoying little small merchants which look so out of synk with the rest of the game, very Tom and Jerry.

So now I play STALKER or the newly released Theatre of War from Battlefront or Armed Assault. Unless this mod succeeds, i.e. U-Boats in SH4 then I think my submarine days are drawing to a close.

Nothing I have said should be, or is intended to offend any one; I have simply stated my opinion.

Re the Atlantic Sharks web site, yes there does seem to be much in German, but most is translated, or you can work it out with a little effort. I guess it’s down to something my Dad used to say, if you want something badly enough you will do it!

So guys lets get stuck in, my moding skills are minimal, but I can edit, and I can test and provide reports, so if you guys want config files edited perhaps I can do that for you, lead the way and lets get started!
