Clay, uninstall the game, make sure all SH4 related files are gone including the SH4 folder in your my documents (it contains save files & cfg stuff) then reboot, defrag and reinstall the game with the 1.2 patch...this worked for me, play a bit to see if everything works ok then start trying your mods.
Just a side note...this procedure "worked for me" it may or may not work for other people.
