Yes we live in a contradictory culture, where violence and war is at the same time officially condemned -and peace and tolerance enforced- and also trivialized and extended in games, cinema, TV... However, ancient civilizations like Rome had the most cruel and brutal public spectacles, as well as a publically enforced militarism, and yet they were not a specially "violent" society when you considered the individuals. Ironic:hmm:

Sounds like a case of peace on the outside, while really on the inside we crave war and violence. Sound about right?
