Because it's now a world of glitz and glamour, and there isn't a real need for moxy. At least in Hollywood.

Actually one of my favorite girls from the era, was Yavonne Decarlo. She had a sweet Yank Magazine pinnup, as did a very young Lucille Ball. My Uncle still has the two volume sets I gave him that are hard bound and contain every Yank magazine published. Wow were there some georgious ladies then.
