I was over at my grandfathers discussing things about world war 2. He served on a Destroyer Escort in the US Navy. DE 181 USS Straub well anyway we got talking and soon he let me see all the old VHS tapes that he has had of all sorts of submarine and documentary films.
One of the films I stumbled on was called "Submerged" and no its not the cheap one with steven segal, but rather about a real story of a world war 2 sub that was lost durring sea trials. The movie was actually very good and no im not an absolute hard core history buff but things looks very real and believable.
Anyways right before the sub begins it dive there is a great dive sequence that takes place. It runs through just about everything and i thought that it could be used in the simulator hooked to the original dive sound file.
Since it is on VHS i am not able to get it. I'm not sure that the movie ever was placed on DVD as it was made for TV film.
Here is the information on the film on a website
http://www.seacoastnh.com/arts/please060201.html
If your not able to get the sound then atleast try and find the movie or read the site, it is a very interesting storyline and very accurate acording to what i read.
Hope someone can do something with the sound file, or if not hope some people learn some history from reading the site. Even if these men were not at war they could find themselves in a cold steel tomb, and this movie does a good job of displaying that.
Enjoy
