@ CCIP - You're completely right - sometimes clones can be great additions to the Silent Hunter series (just look at Sergbuto's first two merchants for SHIII, or the USS Essex by Cdre Gibs
). Sometimes though, the differences between the RL ship and the clone can be a little too great - in this case, the Fuso and Marat classes are quite different. Also, jmjohnson36 is right about these ships never seeing Pacific service anyway.
BTW - I am not criticising using existing ships to build new ones - every single ship I have ever built for SHIII is a kitbash aftr all.
Some have been more accurate than others.:hmm:
