I've persuaded my mother to let me (I'm earning money now but she's still managing the budget) buy a new computer right now as opposed to delaying it just so that I can still GET a computer pre-installed with XP rather than Vista... it sounds like Vista isn't something I want to upgrade to within this year.

By the way, why do the systems requirements go up exponentially with each version of Windows? I just don't see where enough improvements to warrant 2-4x the RAM requirement in each version, and each version seems to run slower than the last - remember the good old days in DOS when I can change directories in one second. Now I have to wait ten as the folder loads...
