WHen you've played SH3 as much as i have, they're's no going back.

Is SH4 buggy? Yup. Will it get better? Im 100% positive about it. The games been modded to where its more playable whilst we wait for the next patch. I didn't complain about the game, i just went about trying to fix it as best i could. As a game, Sh4 is in some respects superior to SH3. In other respects it fails because of its buggy state. To the casual user, SH4 would be REALLY hard to get into because of it.

As an aside on damage control; People are used to clicking "realistic repair times" or "realistic sub damage" and in SH3, it really didnt mean anything. The reality is, if your sub was hit by a shell, and the pressure hull punctured, you couldnt dive. Sh4's damage model reflects this reality. In SH3, you get a deduction from your hull integrity and your crush depth became shallower, in Sh4, if your bulkhead(pressure hull) has a large breach and if your submerged, your boat will flood faster then you can pump the water out. In SH3 (after mods), repairing your diesals took like maybe an hour or two, in SH4 it may take all day, which also is more realistic. (not to mention you can see your repair crew at work in the CR, tools in hand) Overall it took me awhile to get used to the idea, but in this respect the game is pretty deadly, and it keeps you on your toes. I certainly think twice before engaging in a gun battle with an armed target.
