I personally don't understand why people think taxes are evil. The only way that they can be is if they're implemented incorrectly, ie. overtaxing the middle class/lower class and not taxing the rich proportionally.

I see taxes, for me the non-wealthy Canadian, like the government taking our collective money and buying services wholesale with it. Its like have you ever gotten together with a few friends, pooled some cash, and then bought something that you couldn't afford by yourselves? Thats how I view it. Its society being stronger together. The rich obviously resist taxing because they can afford most of what taxes go towards providing for the other 90% of people, so naturally it isn't in their self interst.

My problem with taxes is that they never levy them on the right people. The rich make money off of the labour and land which belongs to the majority of the citizens of any democratic nation. Shouldn't they have to then put back in a fair share of what they've reaped, just like the rest of us?
