The stripped Shirt has to be intentional, and i think its a great touch. ALthough i think they should have tied that to silent running, cause ive only seen it when your boat is hit and flooding.
From books ive read in the past, it got REALLY HOT in a fleet boat in the pacific. Temperatures reaching to like 120 degree's in the pressure hull during silent running because all the fans and AC had to be shut off. If i remember right, crew would ingest salt tablets to restore some of the lost salt from sweating, and the floor of the sub would just be covered in sweat.
If that hot, you'd take your shirt off too. hell, i'd be down to my skivvies.
