I am running 1.1 as well
I havent had the game crash when loading only after about 2-3 hours of play
I think im having more of a hardware problem than anything else
Even with the unmodded version i get a crash now and again
Still tweaking my system settings just built this comp 2 weeks ago havent had time to play with it too much yet
