go silent, go deep (if you hear someone say your passing a thermal layer this is good, MUCH harder for them to detect you), When they're pingin you with sonar it's best to give them as little a profile as possible meaning keep your stern facing them (or bow if you must but preferrably stern), don't let them get a ping off the side of your boat. If the pursuer is good you may be maneuvering for a while to avoid his attacks but as long as you keep giving him as little as possible to go on you'll eventually be able to sneak away. For the most part you should stay silent and not go more than 4 kts. Sometimes to get out of their search pattern it's beneficial to get a short burst of speed for a few seconds but ONLY when you know their stern is facing you and personally I only go as high as Standard just long enough to give me a couple extra kts
