I may just be lucky, or it could be coincidence, but I have never had any problems continuing existing careers with either 1.02 or 1.03.
More existing careers should work with 1.03 than worked with 1.02. The changes were not as extensive this time around. But as previously mentioned, we make no guarantees. All we can say is try it first - you may be lucky.
