You asked for free advice from the oh-so-reliable Internet and were told wrong. This does not come as a shock to me.
Not only were you told wrong, you were told wrong and cost you no money, no wasted time, and in the end, NOTHING except being pleasantly surprised. I fail to see how this is a problem.
