Sorry hun, but if you read your original post you'll see that the "crash dive of death" has nothing to do with SHweather. I had the same thing happen to me and your first post on the subject helped me save my save game(if you know what I mean!).
You have to edit three files in the SHIII programme and you'll be able to carry on. It's yet another SHIII glitch.

And yes you're right, as much as I enjoy this game the glitches are starting to really p#ss me off too.
