Well, in Australia the thing is $99. If it's full of significant bugs and actaully NEEDS mods to be 'proper' and actually 'work as it should' (both these concepts being very subjective) then there is certainly a case for saving the $$ and buying it a year or so after initial release.

I purchased SHIII for $19 and installed NYGM immediately. Great sim!! Was it great out of the box, however? For me, no - more of a shell with the potential to be absolutely brilliant.

I wonder if it pisses of the developers having to release something they KNOW isn't 'complete' i.e. doesn't actually perform per the manual, or has lots of minor graphics/sound bugs etc....??

Personally, it would drive ME nuts having to do that.

Anyway, EB Games has a great policy: buy something and you can return it within a week for a full credit. Thus get to try it for a week and decide if it's worth the dollars. Perfect!!

NB: NOT slagging the game. I am more commenting on the general issue of a release with significant issues remaining (something depressingly common in the computer game world), and how to get around the issue of paying premium $$ before mods have a chance to 'complete' things as they did in SHIII.
