I dont have the game, so Im not sure this works in SHIV, if you can, plot the location on the map as you start the time(using range and bearing info). After a minute or so, plot the target again. Now you have time and distance between plot...so you can determine speed with simple math.
I got to get back into the game again to re-learn other math tricks, but a good inverse tangent table and stuff and I think you can set up perfect 0 gyro shots and determine range to track and all kinds of nice stuff.
