I sank two liners on Dec. 16th, 1939, 0415 hours, at the southern edge of where AM51 and AM52 meet (GWX). Both took two fish but were sunk almost instantly, both shot near the rear stack. Might have got away with one fish each in the bow, but I wanted to get clear of the now rather ticked off escorts.
BTW, there are four (!) liners in that little convoy along with four destroyers, steaming at 21 knots. If anyone is starting a new career, it's a nice way to rack up some massive tonnage in very short order. The four stacker alone was 41K GRT.
