Also do this i find it works really well hit alt-ctrl-delete till windows taks manager comes up then go to the tab called proccess. Then find the sh3 exe its usually the one thats usuing the most memory right click on it and you will be presented with a drop down menu go to set priority and put it at either high or real time and as soem one else suggested make sure all else in the back ground is shut down.
Also get a program called tune up utilities 2006 i find that it helps whats running in windows very well including what launches at start up. Hope that helps and happy hunting
