That would be the Peter Zecsh (sp), he was universally hated by the crew of U505. They tossed his body overboard in a weighted down potato sack and the XO took command.

I was about to say, the sub in that picture is NOT u-505.

Looks nothing like the one posted above.
Its not early in the war either. U505 had 3 emblems
1. ) lion with axe under Axel-olaf Lowe.
2.) Axe with olympic rings under peter Zechs
3.) Sea shell under Harold Lange
