according to my research the voctory ships as a class were not launched until 1944... and only 2 of the ships of the victory class were sunk in the atlantic by U-boats.
Liberty ships on the other hand... over 2700 were built between 1941 and 1945. the idea was to build them as fast as - or faster - than the U-boats could sink them. Rushed production meant poor rivets and bad welds... several boats "Fell apart" during their voyages breaking in half without warning in heavy seas.
if anything - you should almost never run into a victory ship inless its around August 1944 or later - and if any ship should be an easy kill it should be the Liberty ship.
