I'm surprised by your negative attitude.
To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, a watt saved is a watt earned.
Plain and simple, one of these bulbs uses about a third of the electricity of its incandescent equivalent. Good for the purse and pocket, too.
And it also promotes awareness of the issue.
