Thanks for the replies.

I've successfully completed more than the requisite three patrols and I've been in the 1st Flotilla since starting my career in Sept '39, so I've got both of those angles covered. At first I thought my Renown was too low to transfer, but that's not it since the request is actually approved. It just won't move me where I want to go. Actually, it just won't let me out of the 1st Flotilla. Transferring to the 2nd moves me to the 7th in St. Nazaire and transferring to the 7th Flotilla crashes the game. Trying to actually start a patrol after transferring to the 2nd and being Shanghai'd into the 7th also crashes the game. It seems I'm stuck in the 1st Flotilla which might not be so bad if I hadn't already worked my way through all the nurses on base and most of the U-Boat groupies too (I understand the whole "any port in a storm" thing, but I just can't drink enough Schnapps to make Bernard cute).

Ahem...anyway... At first I thought maybe I was trying to transfer too soon, even though the opportunity presented itself, so I decided to fit in one more patrol before requesting a transfer. Twenty two days later, I'm still experiencing the same problem. At this point, my options are to try yet another patrol and hope the problem goes away (I doubt it), start a new career and hope the problem goes away, try to repair/reinstall and hope the problem goes away, or just get drunk and and hope the problem goes away (hey, it worked with my ex-wife). Since I've worked hard to get this far and I think I'm doing well, I'd really like to keep going on this career and maybe even complete it. I guess that leaves me with the repair/reinstall option. And, oh yeah, I'm outta whiskey.

Which leads me to my next question. Is there anything I need to do preserve my existing career other than backup and restore my career file in My Documents?

Thanks again.
