Before yo reinstall SH3 you must locate the Silent Hunter directory under Programs/UBI/ and delete it. The uninstall does not remove this directory and it leaves three files which conflict with the new install of the 1.4b patch.
Remove (delete) the SH3 directory and you'll have no problem with the reinstall of SH3 and 1.4b patch.
