For example a Tanker gives 100 renown points (the value is totally artificial just for the sake of the argument here) during the war. What I'm suggesting is for a slight increase in renown value per year. Let's say 10% (again just for the sake of the argument). That will give 100 points in 1939, 110 in 1940, 121 in 1941, 133.1 in 1942 and so on until we reach a value of 177.1561 in 1945. This final value is significantly higher than the original one of 100 and signifies the level of difficulty to sink that tanker in 1945 with respect to 1939. Obviously I don't know if the renown values are hard-coded or if what I'm suggesting is non-practical from the scripting and coding point of view. So I'm willing to hear ideas and opinions on the subject.
You should also take into consideration that some ships are more valuable for the enemy than other ships. At some point Britain had only fuel reserves for 6 weeks or so. Considering that tanker should be far more valuable and therefor they should give you more renown. I hope you get what I want to say.
