As far as I know the servicable allied planes were recovered and handed over at the border. Allied pilots were interned for a very short period before repatriation. Read about a British pilot who escaped from the internment camp at the Curragh and got across the border to Northern Ireland. He was promptly brought back to the border and handed over to the Irish army who put him back in the camp where he was 'sent to coventry' by his fellow prisoners for disrupting the arrangements! Know of one example towards the end of the war where a JU-88 landed and the British insisted on the plane being handed over for scientific analysis which it was
