Why does a government or its agents need such a weapon? I trust my neighbors with guns more than I trust governments with guns. Here in Utah I've been told by cops that they consider armed citizens to be their best backup.

Ok, i have a comment on the "if all firearms are banned there will be no criminal activity in your life". Ok, so we criminals are called criminals because they break the law, correct? and if they murder people with guns and steal things, why would they obey a law saying they can't have guns? We call them criminals because they

and also guns don't commit crimes, people do. If you set a bunch of guns in the middle of a street, they won't start jumping up and shooting people on their own. Humans might use guns for purposes that oppose the law, in that case the humans should be punished not the guns.
