8) Firing the deck and flak guns periodically;
9) Sending regular position reports to the British, coupled with chatty comments about their dubious parentage and bad dental hygiene;

You forgot: 11) Have Bernard on watch with a megaphone.
12) Have your crew standing on deck in dress uniforms lined up in the shape of a giant swastika.
