To make things more challenging, I look for targets almost exclusively through the Watch Crew, and stay on the surface.
I only use my hydrophones:
1. For a safety check at dawn and dusk.
2. In bad weather, when I think I should be near the contact point with a reported convoy.
Using this method, I estimate that on 1/3 of my patrols I see no contacts.
