If you had just spent 12 hours trying with no success you might be a little frustrated too!!
I have a single port USB router connected to the net and a 100mhz ethernet hub for the the lan connection.
CptSimFreak, I tried both the first failed & the second made 4 attempts all failed!
Malefactor, the USB router is supplied by my ISP & is a single port el-cheapo!, however it still should work and is the setup in both of these addresses:

I have cooled down a little but still no connection!!
I don't know if it helps but this is from my ISP's site:

encapsulation type (retail plans): PPPoE
multiplex: LLC
VPI/VCI: 8/35
IP address: Automatically
