I have 5.1 and yes, the noise will come on the speaker for the side it is generated for. What is cool is the creaking noises while submerged that start from one side of the boat to the other side....the speakers will play just like that. It really sounds like the side is stressing on pressure and it is moving down the boat. I have the 4 speaker set up with a woofer. In the sound card set up(I use the motherboard sound) I have the speakers set to surround sound.
