And I'm running a 1x patrol in Dec '39 now, I'll try the manual moving around in the sub today. I've done it from time to tme but not exclusively.
But what's the big deal about the side shortcut bar...can't you just not use it if you want to move around the ship manually?

You can use dantenocs method thats what i use no sub icon on map, and ctrl click simulating the sextant if weather permits and using the speed charts provided in GWX if the weather doesnt permit, its an all new thing
