The word "crew" is also used in modern German and normally uses the article "Die". So it's "die Crew" 
Grönemeyer is a big shot in German music and also sang the official song of the Soccer World Cup 2006. Unfortunately he gave up acting, which I think is a pity since I think he's fairly good at it  |
