Sink it.
It was discouraged by Allied superiors, because it could also be dangerous to the destroyer, but they did it anyway, and it worked. McIntyire, in
U-Boat Killer, recommended that they do it at medium speed, as one destroyer at full speed ran completely over the u-boat, ripping off his own propellors and requiring several months of repair time to the bottom of the hull.
