Please read my previous post, if he's pinging you
he's not listening with the hydrophones, he's locating you with the asdic, if you go flank he'll still be tracking you, and it's not cheating, that's what happen in real life, the advantage you have is that when he's making a DC run you can go flank for a few moments after he passes your position without giving up your position, but that only works if there's only one ship chasing you, if there are more one of them is always at low speed tracking you with the hydrophones.
