The magnetic setting saved my butt: A Town class destroyer detected me and I was in a good position for a 0° angle (stern) shot. I released the eel (magnetic+ impact) but it didn't go under the keel but passed the destroyer on her starboard side. However the eel detonated and although I got a message that it was a dud the destroyer began to sink slowly. I guess the torpedo thought it was a fast moving magnetic mine.
