Yeah at the end of WWII it was a mad scramble by the americans, british and russians to capture as many german scientists as they could. The americans put serveral german rocket scientists into their space programme, including Wernher von Braun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wernher_von_Braun"), who developed the V2 rocket for nazi germany - He then went on to develop the saturn 5 for the americans, that put man on the moon. A true genius.
