Photoshop 7 here! This is how i do it:
Just find a nice color on google pictures (search for "grey" or any other color), and open the pic. Then right click and "copy picture". Then in PS: mark an area, no matter where, and "paste" the pic into it. The pic of the color will be on top of everything, but dont worry! Use the polygonal lasso tool to draw a triangle or a quadrat in the colored area, anything you like. Press Ctrl+C to copy the selection. Mark another area outside the colored one, and paste the selection into that. Place it over the uboat texture where you want it to be, then double click on the layer in the layer window to select blend modes etc. I used the "overlay" blend mode on the camo scheme for this paint. Hope this was helpful, im not good in explaning in such technical terms... If Anvart, fubar, danlisa or some other excellent skinner can explain this in an easier way, please do so..!
