What heading should U-boat be on at Keil Inbound point?

Several times when I come to the Keil Inbound point, I stop precisely on top of it and click the Keil Inbound pattern. The pattern gets plotted, but it's 90 degrees off, and the plotted course takes me across the land and out into the western North sea.

It usually takes me 2 or more tries to get the Keil inbound course to plot correctly on the Canal. I haven't figured out what the differences are that make it plot 90 degrees off.

Should I approach the inbound point with a heading of 0 degrees, or 90 degrees. Does it make a difference if your course is a tiny bit off of the inbound point?

What things influence the way the Keil Inbound pattern is plotted?
