Standard SH3 behaviour. You'll get a NULL patrol grid assignment whenever you stop at a friendly base. Not really a problem if you refuel *after* you've met your objectives, ie on the way home, as you know where you are going plus you have the awarded renown.
SH3Cmdr sometimes allows it to be corrected, and there's also SH3Patrol which lets you correct it too.
Why they no longer load is a different matter, and usually one reflective, as BBW says, of making game file changes whilst at sea.
