Frankly, I'd like to go back to naming carriers after battlefields and former famous warships like Saratoga, Gettysburg, Enterprise, et al. Submarines should get their old apolitical fish names back too. It was Admiral Rickover who started us down this road with this famous editorial comment that "Fish don't vote." Phooey. Tradition should count for more.
However, if we do commission a
Gerald R. Ford I think a band-aid insignia on the bow would be a nice touch.
