There is a difference between Radio
Messages and Radio
Contact Reports. Radio Contact Reports are truly there in the game world, but the convoys reported in Radio Messages are taken from historic radio traffic and do not necessarily reflect the events going on in the SH3 world.
If, historically, Gunther Prien in U-47 radioed on June 14th, 1940 that there was a convoy in grid BF1158, that will show up in your Radio
Messages, as GWX includes historical radio traffic
. But I can almost guarantee you that if you sail over there in SH3, you will see nothing but empty ocean.
If BdU in SH3 sends you a Radio
Contact Report of a convoy reported in Grid AM57, doing 8 kts and travelling NNW, you can indeed intercept this in game.
