No, the displayed image 'contents' is the same, I think (unlike widescreen movie versions).
But there's something about it that just looks and feels so much better.
Look at my sig, with it's rectangular shape. Now try to picture it with the sides squished into a square. it just wouldn't be as nice. |
Yes, you get a wider field of view. Just not a lot. Widescreens tend to be better just because most widescreens have a better looking picture (so long as you spend a little to get a good monitor)
