There is a lot more to it than just that. I happen to have a widescreen tv and also hate the stretched look. A good WS tv will allow you to set the modes. If my TV see's a widescreen mode, it will switch to that mode. How ever, if it see's a regular tv signal, it will square itself. Has the same effect as watching WS on regular with the black bars, except I end up with black bars on the sides instead of top and bottom

Looks like a regular tv just with a MUCH better picture. Works quite well actually. Now, some TV's wont auto switch, but they'll at least have a manual switch.
Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread, just hate seeing something bashed when it's just not being understood. Not jumping out at you AVGWarhawk, only trying to clarify
