I've been using similar things made by whom-I-can't-remeber. It was well before RuB gathering I guess.
There was an English version and German version. They are large white 2-letter abbreviations of the positions and white rectanglar frame and other than that it's transpearent (so background is see-thru). I think they look very nice, especially because now I'm using "sim feeling mod" in NYGM and any kind of icon picture or something in solid color is visually obstructing.
So, the one I'm currently using is the German version and they're like:
LI WA NA SO FU WO
The mod name thus must have been, LIWANASOFUWO or LiWaNaSoFuWo or LWNASFW or something like that (English version respect to English letters) but either post has no longer been avail or my memory is incorrect, I can't come up with any search result with those names.
The mod itself is simple enough, just two graphics:
\data\Menu\Gui\Layout\OfficerA.tga
(background letter & frame, contains alpha mask)
\data\Menu\Gui\Layout\OfficerB.tga
(for clickable area def? not sure)
If someone wants it I could email. (I have only German version and no readme etc tho)
