Upon leaving port I would test the AA and the deck gun. Both AA guns work just fine. The deck gun says that it has no ammo. I checked the inventory and it does have ammo for it.

If I'm reading your post correctly Deep-Six you have already 'clicked' on the shell icon (HE)...then it should work mate :hmm: ...have you checked it is manned ?(sometimes it is possible to think just because your AA is manned then the drck gun is too)
As for the SH3 'AI recognition bug'...thank god I've never actually experienced that one
